Ridgway Court Docket Searches
Ridgway publishes no municipal docket. There is no calendar, citation-payment portal, or document viewer to search. So the paper itself is your best starting point. Read the Ridgway citation or notice for the alleged provision, the case or citation number, the appearance or payment deadline, and a named contact. Ridgway Town Hall is the fallback when no court-specific channel is listed. The statewide Judicial Branch search fits only two situations: a Ridgway matter filed in state County or District Court, or a municipal appeal that has reached that system. Starting in the wrong place wastes time.
- Read the full Ridgway citation or notice and preserve its number and deadline.
- Use the named municipal contact; if none appears, call Ridgway Town Hall.
- Ask for the current setting, location, status, and record-request method.
- Use the town information-request route for an available municipal record.
- Search the state docket only for a state case or downstream appeal.
A missing state result does not erase a municipal citation. Usually it just means the docket search started in the wrong system.
Ridgway Court Records Have No Portal
There is no online Ridgway court records portal. That is a concrete access fact, not an inconvenience to work around. No party-name fields exist. No citation-number controls, date filters, export buttons, or online document fees either. Content promising such features would point you toward a service the town simply does not offer. Use the citation itself, the counter, and Ridgway's written request materials.
Fallback chain: Ridgway citation or notice › Town Clerk or Town Hall › written records request › state docket only for a downstream appeal.
Ridgway's general line is 970-626-5308. The Ridgway Town Clerk/Treasurer page lists Pam Kraft at extension 211 and pkraft@town.ridgway.co.us. Still, ask whether your current notice names a more direct municipal court contact.
Inside the Ridgway Municipal Court
Ridgway's town-authorized code contains a Municipal Court chapter covering ordinance and municipal ticket matters. The 2022 appointment record names Lane Thomasson for municipal judge services. The state directory still lists Thomasson as Ouray County Judge. But Ridgway publishes no current municipal court staff page. Treat the older appointment as context, not as confirmation of who sits today.
Ridgway also runs a separate administrative-code enforcement process. A municipal court case and an administrative citation can grow from similar conduct. Yet the two move on different tracks. The administrative notice spells out the violation, the correction, the penalty, the deadline, the appeal method, and hearing information. Not every Ridgway citation belongs on the criminal or traffic docket.
For Ridgway cases that do reach the county system, the Colorado Judicial Branch data page supplies the official state reporting context.
The state reports give no current Ridgway municipal caseload. County totals therefore cannot be assigned to Ridgway.
Ridgway Administrative Citation Records
An administrative citation is its own Ridgway record track. The notice itself should carry the essentials. Expect the date, location, and time; the code provision and description; the required correction; the penalty; the payment deadline and consequence; the appeal method; and signatures. A written appeal must reach Ridgway Town Hall within 10 calendar days, with a current telephone number, residence, and mailing address enclosed.
| Stage | Ridgway requirement | Record to keep |
|---|---|---|
| Citation | Read violation, correction, penalty, deadline, and appeal directions. | Complete notice and proof of service or receipt. |
| Appeal | Written filing at Town Hall within 10 calendar days. | Copy of appeal and delivery proof. |
| Hearing | Informal hearing before an appointed officer, generally open unless the appellant objects. | Hearing notice and written decision. |
| Nonpayment | May add up to $25 plus 10 percent annual interest. | Current balance or town statement. |
Penalty caps escalate from $150 to $500 to $999. Those caps apply to the administrative process, not to a universal Ridgway municipal court fine schedule.
Finding Ridgway Court Dates
Take a Ridgway court date from the current citation, notice, or later court communication. Then confirm it with the named office. No official Ridgway page publishes a recurring docket day or searchable calendar. The county emergency plan notes that the historic Ouray courthouse courtroom hosts Ridgway municipal proceedings. And History Colorado's courthouse resource adds building context. Neither fact proves where your matter is set. The current Ridgway notice controls.
| Date | The operative date on the latest notice or order, not an older citation if the matter was reset. |
|---|---|
| Time | The specific reporting time supplied by the municipal contact or hearing notice. |
| Location | The place printed on the current notice; do not infer City Hall or the county courthouse. |
| Official | The currently assigned judge or administrative hearing officer, confirmed through the town. |
| Setting type | Municipal court event or separate administrative-citation hearing. |
If two Ridgway notices conflict, call before traveling and keep both documents. An old event can linger in the file after a new date is issued.
Ridgway Court Record Custodians
Two clerks serve Ridgway, and the division matters more than the title. The Ridgway Town Clerk is the documented contact for local records and public inquiries. The Ouray Combined Court Clerk keeps state District and County Court case files. A Ridgway ordinance record starts with Ridgway. A state misdemeanor, traffic T case, civil claim, felony, family, or probate record is different. That one starts with the Combined Court office.

For comparison, the official City of Ouray contact page shows the separate municipal channel elsewhere in the county.
Ridgway keeps its own contact route. Another city's office is not the Ridgway records clerk.
Ridgway Traffic Ticket Lookups
Start with the ticket itself. That is where the answer sits. A Ridgway ordinance or municipal traffic citation runs through the Ridgway notice. The Ridgway contact is printed on it. A Colorado or county traffic case filed under class T is different. It belongs to Ouray County Court instead. There, the docket search works by year, T class, and sequence in the state docket tool. The place where an officer wrote the ticket does not decide the outcome. It does not decide which system holds the record either.
Payment rules differ too. Never assume the state payment site takes a Ridgway municipal citation. For an Ouray County Court T case, the Judicial Branch payment system runs daily from 5:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. Case eligibility still applies. Anyone with an outstanding judgment warrant or warrant cannot pay online. That person must contact or appear at court. With a Ridgway citation, follow the payment or contest directions printed on the Ridgway notice. Then confirm them with Ridgway Town Hall.
The Ouray County traffic court record guide walks through the county-wide distinctions and the payment limits.
Ridgway Court Appeals Split Two Ways
Ridgway appeals turn on one question. Is the Ridgway municipal court a qualified court of record? If it is, the appeal goes to District Court within 35 days. If not, the appeal goes to County Court within 14 days using JDF 222. Service goes to the city attorney or municipal clerk. Confirm Ridgway's current record status before choosing a route.
The FY2024 report showed zero non-record municipal traffic appeals filed in Ouray County Court. Read that zero with care. It does not establish Ridgway's status or reveal its original caseload. It only shows that the reported county category had no Ridgway filings. That was during that fiscal year.
The state appellate records page explains appellate request routes and archival context.
It matters only once a Ridgway appeal enters state court.
How Ridgway Cases Reach the County
Local ordinance and municipal ticket matters start with Ridgway. State misdemeanors, traffic offenses, lower-dollar civil matters, small claims, evictions, and protection orders belong in Ouray County Court. Felonies, civil matters in any amount, family, juvenile, probate, mental-health, and water cases go to District Court. One Combined Court clerk supports both state levels.
Docket flow: Ridgway Municipal Court › Ouray County Court › Ouray County District Court
A municipal appeal may land in County or District Court based on record status. Other state cases skip the municipal court entirely. Not every case must pass through the municipal docket first. An event that occurred in Ridgway does not force that route. The Ouray County court docket overview covers the state search at county depth.
Federal matters use a separate system. The U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Colorado is one official source. It covers bankruptcy cases involving county residents.
Federal records sit in PACER, not Ridgway's municipal file.
Ridgway Court Records by Population
Ridgway is the larger of Ouray County's two incorporated municipalities. The county's 2025 emergency plan, citing 2020 Census figures, put Ridgway at 1,183 residents. That earned it first place. The county itself spans 540.7 square miles. Its six-county judicial district covers roughly 10,000 square miles, which helps explain why a Ridgway citation track and a traveling state-court system can coexist without one shared search portal.
Ridgway publishes no current municipal case count. County traffic, criminal, and civil totals cannot be divided and assigned to Ridgway without an official source.
Who Can See Ridgway Court Records
Access to a Ridgway record depends on who holds it. Ridgway administrative materials follow the Ridgway information-request process and Colorado public-record law. A case may enter Ouray County Court or District Court. Then Chief Justice Directive 05-01 and the Judicial Branch request process govern instead. Some content faces restrictions. Protected identifiers, sealed matters, juvenile material, and other restricted content may be withheld or redacted under the applicable law or court order.
Access rules:
Ridgway administrative forms provide the town's local public-information request route.
Chief Justice Directive 05-01 governs access to state court case records.
Colorado Revised Statutes Title 24 contains the public-record and criminal-justice-record provisions relevant to the proper custodian.
Ask for a public or redacted version when part of a Ridgway record is protected. A blank result is just a blank result. Never treat an empty Ridgway online search as proof that a record was sealed or never existed.
Ridgway Court Record Confirmation
A confirmation call to Ridgway works best when it is specific. Have the Ridgway citation or case number ready. Check the label on your paper. It may say municipal, administrative, County Court, or District Court. Then ask for the operative date, the location, and the accepted request method. Do not send a full date of birth, a financial account number, or any similar identifier through ordinary email. Only the Ridgway custodian can clear that.
Keep your Ridgway paperwork in one place. That means the original notice, any later reset notices, the payment receipt, proof of appeal delivery, and any written decision. Those records help Ridgway Town Hall or the Combined Court clerk find the right matter fast. Suppose an old Ridgway municipal issue has grown into a state appeal. Then save both the local citation number and the new state year-class-sequence number, because each one identifies a different layer of the case.
Ask Ridgway for a copy? Name the exact item you need. It might be the citation, hearing notice, written ruling, payment record, or appeal document. Ask whether Ridgway offers inspection, an electronic copy, or a paper copy, and get the fee before you pay. Ridgway publishes no municipal document-image fee schedule, so a current quote has to come from the town itself. The item may sit in a state appeal file. The Ouray Combined Court clerk then applies the Judicial Branch copy and access rules instead.
Pursuing a Ridgway administrative appeal? Keep the address and phone details on file with your written request current. The Ridgway hearing officer runs an informal hearing. It is generally open unless the appellant objects. That officer may be the municipal judge or another Colorado lawyer. Ask Ridgway Town Hall how the decision will arrive and where the resulting Ridgway record is kept. These steps belong to the administrative track, so do not treat them as a criminal docket procedure.
